Mesa County Fairs BEST Kept Secret
2018 by Mackenzie Dodge
Last year I had the privilege of attending all five days of the Mesa County Fair for the first time. One of the first things I learned was there is something going on ALL the time.
Whether it’s the grounds acts, kids zone, animal shows, open class, vendors, contests, live music, and more, you’ll be shocked at the number of things going on every day!
The best PART is all of this is FREE this year thanks to the Day Sponsors! (Participating in Grandstand Events, InflataVille, or Wine Tasting requires the purchase of tickets for those activities and ticket prices go up at the gate.)
But the one event I was unaware of, that I enjoyed the MOST, was the Wine Tasting powered by Fisher’s Liquor Barn.
Not only is this the BEST kept secret of the Mesa County Fair, I feel it might be one of the hidden gems of local wine tasting.
This event features some of the finest wines the state has to offer, including Whitewater Hill Vineyard, served in an open-air gazebo in the heart of the County Fair.
This is a great opportunity to “dial in” your tastes. If you’re not a wine lover yet, you will be by the time you’re done. This experience allows you to find out exactly what types of wines you enjoy most and will really enhance your enjoyment of any future wine tastings.
Did I mention the food prepared by Cowboy & the Rose? O-M-Gosh, be prepared to enjoy some of the MOST deliciously catered hors d’oeuvres you’ve ever tasted! Not only is it the BEST salmon I ever had (I wanted to take the whole platter), it is beautifully prepared and arranged in such a way that it makes you feel like you’re at a gala instead of inside the Mesa County Fairgrounds!
This is a must do event!
