To mark the occasion, United Way is hosting a 60th anniversary brunch at CMU in the University Center Ballroom. It’s happening July 21, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Doors open at 10:00 a.m. Enjoy a delicious brunch, Mimosa or Bloody Mary, and great company all while supporting your community through United Way of Mesa County.
The event will feature speaker Karen Loucks Rinedollar, Founder & Denver Coordinator of Project Linus. This nonprofit has provided 7.5 million handcrafted security blankets to children in need of comfort around the globe over the past 23 years.
The proceeds from this event will be invested in local school readiness and youth success programs that work to help children reach their full potential. United Way of Mesa County is currently providing critical funding to 40 local, non-profit programs that work to improve the health, education and self-reliance of Mesa County residents.

Keynote Speaker: Karen Loucks Rinedollar
Karen Loucks Rinedollar is the Founder & Denver Coordinator of Project Linus. This nonprofit has provided 7.5 million handcrafted security blankets to children in need of comfort around the globe over the past 23 years.
She is the Board Chair of Hide In Plain Sight, a nonprofit that is breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty through education. They provide scholarships for college, technical and vocational students who are homeless and/or in poverty throughout the state of Colorado. Karen enjoys making a difference in the lives of others by giving a hand up, versus a hand out.
Karen founded and is the Executive Director of Denver Speakers Bureau which provides pro athletes, Olympians and subject matter experts as professional presenters to inspire, educate and entertain at conferences and events. Former Oprah guest and author of Working for Peanuts: The Project Linus Story, Karen is a motivational speaker inspiring corporate, nonprofit, educational and healthcare audiences to make a positive difference in our world.
She earned her B.S. in Journalism and Public Relations from the University of Maryland and her Master’s Degree in Management and Leadership from Webster University. Karen lives in Evergreen with her husband Gary and black cat, Zuma. In their spare time, they enjoy hiking, biking, motorcycling, traveling and playing with their two, very energetic, grandkiddos.
