About This Event

Help us keep our historic WWII Aircraft flying, and our WWII Aviation Heritage Museum and educational outreach programs operating by buying a ticket to ride at the Atlantic Aviation facility at the Montrose CO Airport June 6 and 7 2019. The J3 Cub is the smallest airplane built for WWII. Originally intended for use as a Primary Trainer, it was also used as an artillery spotter, intelligence gatherer, and liaison vehicle. More innovative uses include deployments on Aircraft Carriers, Destroyers with makeshift "runways," and even smaller Destroyer Escorts where they were equipped with a hook, and launched and retrieved on a wire strung between two poles! One Cub equipped with Bazookas wired on the wing struts is credited with at least one enemy tank kill!

Nearly every WWII pilot wannabe started with 4 hours of dual instruction in the Cub. If they couldn't satisfy their instructors that they had the right stuff, they were handed a rifle and a pair of boots, and congratulated on their graduation into the Infantry. About 75% of the wannabes ended up with boots and rifles.

See if you have the right stuff at the Montrose CO Airport! Seats are limited, so book your Living History Flight Experience today. A donation of only $100 will let you check this item off your bucket list. You’ll leave with a smile and a story that will last a lifetime!

*Participants must be 13 or older and able to enter the aircraft unassisted and under their own power. Handicapped access is not provided for this event.
